Foreword:

Albania is still a great offroad travel country even though many routes have been tarred in recent years. Because we have been down there very often and our focus is always on recording routes that will not fall victim to tar in the near future. We tried to put together the scenic routes for Albania paired with tarred roads that lead to the country's sights. This resulted in a 10-day tour with a total distance of over 1740 km, with the off-road portion including around 500 km. The 4x4 Albania book/ebook is a mix of off-road and on-road. In the book/ebook we also have lots of information about the off-road routes, such as slope height/width or difficulty levels.

10 day stages (4x4 Albania):

The daily stages are a mix of tarmac and off-road, we have tried to adapt the stage lengths to the off-road portion or the sights. At the end of each day stage we have suggestions for overnight accommodation, which can be guest houses/hotels or campsites.

Starting a day stage:
Every day stage has directions that you follow. At some point you will come to the start of an off-road route. The directions then indicate on which page you can find the detailed directions for the off-road route. Once you have completed the off-road route, you go back to the directions for the day's stage and continue to follow them.

Off-road routes in 4x4 Albania:

In the book we have broken down the individual off-road routes with a map sketch. This has the advantage that you can drive each off-road route independently of the daily stages. It is also possible to use the off-road routes for your own tour planning.
Driving individual off-road routes:
For each off-road route there is an entry point (green) and an exit point (red), so the route can be driven from both directions.

4x4 Europe Marathon:

Become a Marathon Master - Albania. There is a marathon place on each off-road route. Depending on the length of the route and conditions, there are different numbers of marathon points. Collect these points without any time pressure and become a Marathon Master. More information (click here)

Detailed information (Albania off-road routes):

For each off-road route, the level of difficulty, landscape rating, height information (tunnels, branches, twigs) and bridges and also the width of the track are given.
